Frame or modular scaffolding?
Frame and modular scaffolding do different jobs. For most facade work, a frame system is enough, and it is simpler and faster to put up.
There are two main types of system scaffolding on building sites: frame and modular. Both use ready-made components, but they are built differently and suit different situations.
Frame scaffolding
Frame scaffolding is based on ready-made frames, welded load-bearing components. The frames are stacked one on top of another, with decks, guardrails and braces between them. This is how the EDX70 system works, compatible with Plettac-type scaffolding.
Advantages of frame scaffolding:
- Fast assembly. There are few components and they repeat on every level.
- Easy logistics. A set is counted in square metres of facade, and its contents are predictable.
- Lower cost. A simpler structure means fewer components per square metre.
- Compatibility. A popular standard lets you extend and complete a set with components of the same type.
Limitation: frame scaffolding suits flat, straight walls best. On complex shapes, brackets, transoms and lattice girders help, but only up to a point.
Modular scaffolding
Modular scaffolding is made of individual standards, ledgers and braces joined at nodes at set intervals. It can follow almost any shape: around tanks, chimneys, arches or in industrial plants.
That freedom has a price. Assembly takes longer, more components are needed, and the crew must know the system well.
Which to choose?
- Frame scaffolding: facades of houses, apartment blocks and halls; insulating, plastering and painting walls; contractors and rental companies with typical jobs.
- Modular scaffolding: industrial plants, tanks and unusual shapes; support structures and heavy loads.
Most facade contractors use frame scaffolding because it goes up faster and is easier to manage. A modular system pays off when you regularly take on unusual jobs.
Frame scaffolding from the manufacturer
We manufacture EDX70 frame facade scaffolding on steel and aluminium frames. Ready sets are in the Offer, and you can calculate your own size in the configurator.
