Facade scaffolding: how much does it cost and how to choose it?
The price of facade scaffolding depends mainly on the area in square metres, the frame material and whether you buy a ready-made set or individual components. We explain how to calculate it and what to look out for before buying.
Facade scaffolding is essential equipment for insulation, plastering, painting and any work on the wall of a building. Before you ask about the price, it is worth knowing what it depends on. This way you will compare offers fairly and will not overpay for elements you do not need.
How much does facade scaffolding cost?
With us, a ready-made set on a steel frame costs from PLN 3,199 net, and a set on an aluminium frame from PLN 5,169 net. Each set is available in several area variants, and for each variant we state the dimensions, weight and price. Current prices of all variants can be found on the pages of the sets.
What does the price of scaffolding depend on?
- Area. The most important factor. The larger the facade area to be covered, the more frames, platforms and guardrails are needed.
- Frame material. A steel frame is cheaper, an aluminium one is more expensive but lighter.
- Type of platforms. Steel platforms, aluminium platforms with plywood and timber platforms differ in price and weight.
- Height. Taller scaffolding requires more anchors, braces and access points between levels.
- Accessories. Brackets widening the platform, screw base plates or nets increase the cost, but they are sometimes essential.
How do you calculate how many metres you need?
The scaffolding area is the length of the elevation multiplied by the working height. Round the length up to whole bays of 2.5 m or 3.0 m, and the height up to whole 2 m increments, because that is the height of one frame. Example: a 14 m wall and a working height of 7 m give five bays of 3.0 m, i.e. 15 m of length, and 8 m of height, giving a total of 120 m².
We describe detailed examples for a house and a block of flats in the guide How to calculate the scaffolding area, and the basic dimensions of the system in the guide Dimensions of facade scaffolding.
Steel or aluminium?
Steel scaffolding is cheaper and very durable. It works well for companies that often transport equipment between sites and do not handle it gently during assembly. Aluminium scaffolding is noticeably lighter, so it is quicker to erect and easier to transport in a smaller vehicle. We write more about the differences in the guide Steel or aluminium scaffolding?
Ready-made set or individual components?
A ready-made set is the simplest choice for a first build: you choose the area, and we select the frames, decks, guardrails, braces and anchors in the right quantities. If the elevation has an unusual shape, the quickest way to calculate it is in the configurator, which immediately shows the list of components and an approximate price.
Individual components are worthwhile when you already have scaffolding and want to extend it or replace worn parts. The EDX70 system is compatible with Plettac-type scaffolding, so you can connect our components to the equipment you already have. You will find details in the guide to compatibility with Plettac and in the Offer.
Buy or hire?
Hiring makes sense for a one-off, short job. If the scaffolding will be needed for several months or on several sites, buying usually pays off quickly, and the equipment stays with you. We describe the cost comparison in the guide Buy or hire scaffolding?
What should you pay attention to when buying?
- Certificate and standards. The scaffolding should have a certificate bearing the safety mark "B" and meet the PN-EN 12810 and PN-EN 12811 standards. Our EDX70 system meets them, and you can download the documents in the tab Downloads.
- Technical and operational documentation (DTR). It describes assembly, anchoring and permissible loads. Without it, it is difficult to pass the scaffolding inspection.
- Compatibility. Plettac-type scaffolding is easy to supplement with parts from different manufacturers.
- Availability of parts. Check whether you can buy additional individual decks, guardrails and frames without buying the whole set.
